This Privacy Policy explains what information Alternative Industries collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Alternative Industries website and any related services we provide.
Alternative Industries is operating in an internal alpha. We are a small team and we keep our data practices narrow and on purpose: we collect what we need to run the platform, we do not sell it, and we try to write this document in plain language. If anything here is unclear, email support@altindhq.com and we will answer.
By using the platform, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and password. For vendor, planner, GM, and venue accounts, we also collect your business name, location, and the role you are applying for.
Profile information. Bio, profile photo, product photos, identity attributes you select (handmade, no AI, women-owned, Black-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, and similar), genre tags, social media handles, and links you choose to share. Most of this is publicly visible on the platform.
Application information. When you apply to an event, the planner sees the information you submit, including any answers to event-specific questions.
Payment information. The platform never stores your full card number. Most platform transactions are processed by Stripe; in those cases we receive a token and basic transaction data (amount, last four digits, status) so we can show you receipts and reconcile balances. Some applications are paid through a QuickBooks invoice prepared by the event planner; in those cases the card data is handled by Intuit (QuickBooks Payments) and the platform only sees that the invoice is paid. The platform itself does not see or store full card or bank-account numbers in either flow.
Communications. Messages you send through on-platform messaging, emails to support, and your responses to platform notifications.
Usage information. Pages you view, links you click, search queries, IP address, browser type, device type, and timestamps. We collect this to operate the platform and improve it.
Error and performance data. When something goes wrong, our error-monitoring tool (Sentry) captures a record of the failure that may include your user id, the URL you were on, and a stack trace. Form contents and payment details are filtered out before transmission.
Cookies and similar technology. We use a small set of first-party cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will sign you out and limit platform functionality.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate the platform, including creating accounts, processing applications, taking payments, and delivering messages
- Send transactional emails (application status, booth confirmations, payment receipts, event updates)
- Improve the platform, fix problems, and develop new features
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
- Communicate with you about platform updates and, where you have opted in, marketing
3. How We Share Information
With other users. Profile information you choose to make public is visible to other users. When you apply to an event, the planner sees your application. When a planner posts an event, vendors and patrons see relevant event information.
With service providers (sub-processors). We share information with the third-party services we use to run the platform. Each is contractually limited to using the information only to provide its service to us. Current sub-processors:
- Vercel: hosting and edge delivery
- Supabase: database hosting (encrypted at rest)
- Stripe: primary payment processor; receives card and transaction data for platform-processed payments
- Intuit (QuickBooks Payments): payment processor when a planner sets up a QuickBooks invoice for a specific application; receives card and transaction data for those payments
- Resend: outbound transactional email delivery
- Sentry: error and performance monitoring
- Shopify: limited to the Monster Mall storefront; receives only what is needed to fulfill an order placed on that storefront
For legal reasons. We may share information if required by law, court order, or subpoena, or if we believe in good faith that sharing is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.
Business transfers. If Alternative Industries is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may be part of the transfer. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run third-party advertising on the platform.
4. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. After you close your account:
- Profile and content: deleted on request, or within 90 days of account closure
- Messages: kept for the other party's record; your sender identity is anonymized on request
- Transaction records: kept up to seven years to satisfy tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations
- Backups: may persist for up to 30 days after deletion before being overwritten
5. Your Rights
You can:
- Access and update most of your information by logging into your account
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to legal and operational retention requirements

7. Children
The platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Account creation for vendors, planners, GMs, and venues requires you to be at least 18.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
9. EU, UK, and International Users
The platform is operated in the United States. If you use the platform from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from your country.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the GDPR (and equivalent UK and Swiss law) gives you rights in addition to those listed in Section 5: the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data; the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests; and the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, email support@altindhq.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Our lawful bases for processing are: contract (operating your account, processing your applications and payments), legitimate interests (running, securing, and improving the platform), consent (any marketing email), and legal obligation (tax, accounting, and law-enforcement responses).
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated Policy will be posted at /privacy with a new “last updated” date. Significant changes will be announced by email or in-app notice.
